This is an excerpt from a speech by Truman to Congress asking for money to relieve Greece to the external pressures of Communism. NATO:The North Atlantic Treaty Organization was signed in 1949 by 12 countries. This was an alliance against Russia and the spread of Communism.

KOREAN CONFLICT:The US got involved with the Korean Conflict in 1950. The goal was to defend western-influenced South Korea against Communist North Korea.
